
Training Course
The Ear Care Academy provides a gold standard and an accredited hospital based earwax removal microsuction training course. Our training course is delivered in a world class Teaching Hospital setting – Charing Cross Hospital, Greater London, UK – in the ENT/Audiology Department. The course trainers are all highly experienced senior doctors of Medicine and Audiology. A typical two-day course has between 10-12 delegates with over 80 real patients booked, in order to provide maximum clinical experience to trainees. Each trainer trains a maximum of 2-3 trainees. Our course setup results in an unparalleled microsuction teaching experience.
Our course:

- Enables you to perform microsuction in your own clinic immediately following completion of the course
- Provides full practical training on the usage of ENT microscopes as well as microsuction equipment to remove ear wax
- Is delivered on real patients – typically 80+ patients booked per 2 day course

Aims and learning outcomes of the course
On successful completion of ear microsuction training, trainees will be able to demonstrate:
- Appropriate communication with patients, parents or significant others (including those with hearing loss)
- Correct management of Infection control and health & safety issues in relation to microsuction
- Understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology of the ear
- Understanding of medico legal issues
- Correct use of equipment including all relevant hardware (ENT microscopes, suction devices, instruments etc.)
- Achieving clinical competency in microsuction procedures
- In addition, the course aims to impart knowledge and experience in terms of clinic setup and starting new NHS or private microsuction services
- Appropriate history taking and correct examination of the ear
